Project profile.

Client: West Tamar Council
Value: $800K
Timeline: 2022
Brief:

Working closely with the West Tamar Council, Rare was asked to design the new structures for the Gravelly Beach pontoon, including the pontoon itself, an 18.5m truss gangway and approaching pathway.

challenges & successes:

One of the requirements of the project was the retention of the existing steel piles, which presented a unique challenge. Rare designed a concrete module that could be installed on top of the existing steel piles.

the rare innovation:

During the construction process, we ensured that all new structures met all relevant safety standards and regulations, with consideration given to the water levels, currents, and potential for storms, as well as the impact of the project on the local ecosystem.

key benefits:

Safe, lasting structures for community enjoyment that didn’t disrupt the local ecosystem.
